Ecuador vs Bolivia
International – Friendlies
Date: Wednesday, 11 September 2019
Kick-off at 01:00 UK / 02:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar (Cuenca).
Ecuador had a disappointing run in the summer and failed to even make it out of the group stages of the Copa America. The squad also came in fourth behind guests Japan and salvaged not more than a point from the three games that they played.
The hosts, however, turned things around last week with a win in a friendly, that too against Peru, the 2019 Copa runners up, by a narrow 1-0 scoreline.
Bolivia are yet to register a win this year and are currently on a very dismal six-match losing streak. The away side were part of the same group that featured the eventual Copa America Champions, Brazil, and it was no surprise when subsequently slumped to the bottom of the table without a single point in the bag.
The visitors have shown no signs of promise in any of their recent clashes either and are more than likely to admit defeat when they lock horns with Ecuador on Wednesday.
Ecuador vs Bolivia Head to head (h2h)
- Only one out of their previous ten meetings have seen Bolivia register a win.
- Their last encounter back in 2016, saw both teams share the spoils with a 2-2 scorecard.
- Three of their previous five matches have seen goals down each end.
- Bolivia have not kept a clean sheet in their last ten clashes.
Ecuador vs Bolivia Prediction
The home team have already had a taste of success since their Copa campaign and will be hoping to record back to back wins in their clash with the struggling Bolivians.
Although the hosts have not been a force to reckon with, the poor run of form that their counterparts are on at the moment certainly gives them the edge in this one. It also needs saying that Ecuador have been picking up the win in seven of their last ten head to head matchups and have not been at the losing end in their previous two in a row either.
Now with home advantage also up their sleeve, there is every reason to believe that the hosts will be able to walk away with the bragging rights at the last blast of the whistle.
Furthermore, Bolivia have not been an attacking threat in their recent games, and have found the back of the net just twice from their last six clashes. Moreover, half of their last six meetings with Ecuador have seen fewer than three goals on the scoreboards as well.
Taking into account that Ecuador have not been racking up the goals tally in any of their respective matches either, a low scoring clash with under 2.5 goals on the charts is definitely in the reckoning.
