Djurgarden vs Orebro
Swedish Allsvenskan
Date: Thursday, 17 May 2018
Kick-Off at 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
Venue: Tele2 Arena, Stockholm.
The 3-0 win over the reigning Allsvenskan champions Malmo FF in the early stages of Svenska Cupen helped Djurgarden rebound from the horrific start to the campaign in the new season. Blaranderna managed to bounce back from three straight league losses with a 1-0 home win over Dalkurd, making it two on the bounce in all competitions.
Can Ozcan Melkemichel and his men make it three on Thursday when they host Orebro at Tele2 Arena? The visitors got off to a surprisingly strong start to the new campaign, mainly thanks to the red-hot line of predators in the final third. Kennedy Igboananike has been the most lethal of them all so far, bagging five goals in last three appearances for Orebro.
Nonetheless, the Nigerian striker was sent off in the stoppage-time of the home loss to Hammarby at the weekend after scoring team’s only goal in the match. Head coach Axel Kjall will thus be handicapped without his top scorer on this tough travel to the capital.
Djurgarden vs Orebro: Head-to-head
Djurgarden entirely dominated this match-up over the course of history.
Blaranderna won each of last five H2H games with Orebro bagging two goals in each of the games in the process.
Djurgarden notched as many as ten goals in last three wins over Orebro.
At home, Djurgarden won 13 and lost only 4 out of 18 matches against Orebro.
Djurgarden vs Orebro: Prediction
Orebro entered the season in a much better form, but there are several parameters going strongly in Djurgarden’s favour ahead of the clash. The first is the H2H statistics and the second (more important one) the fact the visitors will be without the top scorer Igboananike. The host will thus have a nice opportunity to catch up with the top-half sides with a win here and we’ll back them to grab the spoils at the 1.61 odds.
A load of thanks from Vito Moretti and Aron Wright for reading this preview.
Djurgarden play tight at the back in general, particularly in front of the home crowd where they kept three clean sheets in last four games in all competitions. The alternative bet will be Djurgarden to keep a clean sheet at the odds of 2.40.
