Delfin vs Colo Colo: Preview and Predictions

Aron Wright - April 30, 2018

Delfin vs Colo Colo
South America – Copa Libertadores
Date: Thursday, 3 May 2018
Kick-Off at 01:45 UK
Venue: Estadio Jocay (Manta).

Delfin made a massive upset beating Colo-Colo 0-2 on the road in the previous round. It was the maiden win of the campaign for the Ecuadorian outfit which thus joined the battled or the top two spots in the Group 2.

The Chilean side, however, seriously compromised their ambitions of making it to the knockout stage with the loss as they sit rock-bottom of the group with just one point from the opening three outings. They will be desperate to rebound here and try and catch the last train to eke the campaign alive.

This will be a tough task for the visitors, though, given they are winless in last six Copa Libertadores games. They did improve their form in recent weeks claiming seven out of possible nine points in last three matches in Chilean Primera Division. The streak helped Los Albos climb up to the fourth place in the domestic league standings.

Delfin vs Colo-Colo: Head-to-head

The match played earlier this month at Estadio Monumental David Arellano was the first ever head to head encounter between these two sides.

As mentioned above, Delfin snatched a highly-important and very surpr5siing 0-2 victory thanks to goals from Fernando Arismendi and Carlos Carmona.

Delfin vs Colo-Colo: Prediction

The hosts will also come into the game in high spirits having won three on the bounce in the domestic league. This is their first ever campaign in the strongest continental competition in South America, and they should clearly be encouraged after snatching the first Copa Libertadores victory a month ago.

Overall, the team led by Fabian Bustos in front of the home crowd in recent weeks, having bagged a strong nine-goal tally in three straight home wins over Deportivo Cuenca, LDU Quito and Emelec. We do see them as favourites to maintain such fine trend against an outfit which failed to win a single of last six games in the competition. You can back the home win at the 2.35 odds.

On the other hand, Colo-Colo kept things quite at the back recently and they will head into this off the back of two straight clean sheets in Chilean Primera Division. The alternative betting option would thus be Under 2.5 goals FT at 1.65.
