Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge is ready to face Dortmund and insist Matt Hummels is ‘at his level’ ahead of the return leg of Europa League clash with the Germain side at Anfield on Thursday night.
Dortmund held Liverpool to 1-1 draw in the first led at Signal Aduna Stadium last Thursday which Matt Hummels equalised at 48 minutes for the Die Borussen after Divock Origi put Liverpool upfront on 34 minutes. Sturridge who has missed couple of matches this season due to injuries returned to substitute Divock Origi on 84th minute.
The England international was in superb form for Liverpool in the Premier League and netted one in the Reds 4-1 win over Stoke City on Sunday.
Matt Hummels’ qualities as defender bundle strikers out in games and when Sturridge was asked about the Germany international’s threat ahead of the game he said:
“I am at his level, so I don’t look at him as anyone who’s bigger than me or better than me or Iam in awe.”
“He’s the same as me, we face players at the top level in the Premier League – it’s the best league in the world.”
“We face defenders who don’t probably get as much credit as they deserve. I’ve been playing at the top level for a long time now so it’s nothing new.”
“It’s just going to be a great night for everyone, and you can’t let nerves get the better of you. You just have to enjoy it, that’s what life’s all about.”
