Crotone vs SPAL
Italian Serie A.
Date: Saturday, 24 February 2018
Kick-Off: 11:30 UK,
Venue: Stadio Ezio Scida (Crotone).
Crotone will be eager to bolster their survival chances as they take on SPAL this weekend in a relegation six-pointer. Should the Squali win, they will then move seven points clear of the drop zone. Can they take advantage of SPAL’s woes and get the job done?
Currently, all three newly promoted sides – SPAL, Hellas Verona, and Benevento – are in the bottom three and it looks like they’re heading right back down to Serie B next term. SPAL come into this game having lost three games and have failed to score in any of those games. In addition they have failed to win their last three games and have earned just one road victory this season. Only Benevento, who have lost all of their away games, have fared worse in their travels.
Crotone aren’t that much better on home turf, either, but they are propped up by the worse performances of the bottom three. The Squali will obviously want to take advantage of this game to further enhance their chances of staying afloat, especially as Sassuolo, who sit two points ahead of in 16th spot, face a very tough game against Lazio on Saturday in which they will expectedly struggle.
However, Crotone’s three game unbeaten run, which they had managed three draws came to an end at the hands of Benevento last weekend. The Squali will be kicking themselves for failing to earn max points against another relegation candidate and so will be keen on avoiding another slip-up here. Thankfully, they’re playing at home unlike in their previous fixture, which saw them take on Le Streghe on the road – so this could tip the tie in their favor.

Crotone vs SPAL: Prediction
With SPAL having lost nine of their 13 road fixtures, Crotone will be going for maximum points in order to stay ahead of the relegation battle. The Squali come into this game having lost to Benevento last weekend and they will be loath to slip-up again. However, SPAL will be desperate to get back to winning ways against an opponent they will feel is within their grasp. This looks set to be a really close clash.
