Crotone vs Genoa
Italian Serie A
Date: Sunday, 28 August, 2016,
Kick-off: 19:45 UK.
Venue: Stadio Adriatico-Giovanni Cornacchia (Pescara)

The newly promoted Crotone managed to frustrate Bologna for the larger periods of the game despite eventually going down to an 86th minute goal from Mattia Destro. They Sharks were promoted to Serie A for first time in their history after finishing second in the Serie B last season. And much of their success last term owe to their strong record at home. The head-coach Davide Nicola will be hoping to replicate this in-order to stay put in their fight for survival in Serie A this season.

Genoa finished 11th in the league table last season and this could have been better if they were able to get results on the road. They managed just 3 away wins all season and suffered loss in 12 defeats which put them fourth from bottom in terms of away record. However, they started the new season with a 3-1 win at home over Cagliari. They were trailing to a 66th minute strike from Marco Borriello until the 78th minute. But three quick strikes inside the next 10 minutes earned them a much needed win to the start the season on a high.

Crotone vs Genoa: Prediction

It is pretty evident that Davide Nicola is going to adopt a defensive set-up as Crotone’s priority will be to stay up in Serie A this season. They also failed to register a single shot on goal in the 1-0 defeat at Bologna last weekend.

While Genoa have a strong head-to-head record over Crotone and are coming on the back of a fine pre-season where they won each of their four friendly games. The away side could be backed to get off with a win here, despite being normally poor in away games.
