Croatia vs Spain
UEFA Nations League
Date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Maksimir (Zagreb).

World Cup runners-up will be highly motivated to get the revenge for a painful 6-0 defeat they suffered on the opening night of the maiden UEFA Nations League campaign. La Furia Roja were super impressive on the evening bagging as many as six goals without a response at Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero in Elche.

Saul, Asensio, Rodrigo, Sergio Ramos and Isco were all on the scoreline on the occasion. Spain launched themselves at the very top of standings with such opening victor. They backed it up with a 1-2 win over England in the second round, but failed to secure the top spot in the group last time out when they surprisingly fell 2-3 at home to the Three Lions. Luis Enrique will thus also want to see improvements in his team’s defensive line here against Croatia.

Croatia vs Spain: Head-to-head

Spain lead the head to head tie by two wins coming into their eighth encounter with the Blazers.

Teams met each other at EURO 2016 in France when Croatia took a 2-1 victory in the group stage.

Three or more goals were seen in three of last four head to head affairs.

Croatia vs Spain: Prediction

Luis Enrique won’t be able to count on the likes of Paco Alcacer, Diego Costa and Marcos Alonso here. However, Iago Aspas played very well of late for Celta Vigo and he will no doubts be a huge threat to Croatia’s goal on the evening. Interestingly, Jordi Alba returned to the squad and is expected to feature the starting line-up at Maksimir.

Croatia sit at the very foot of the group standings with a single point from two games and this is their last chance to try and catch up with the rest of the group. However, Zlatko Dalic’s men failed to create up front ever since Mario Mandzukic retired from the national team.

Spain are bookies’ favourites, but we expect a rather tight contest as Under 2.5 goals FT looks attractive at 1.72. Braver punters can shoot for the draw at 3.30.

Croatia vs Spain: Bet Tips

  • Under 2.5 goals FT @ 1.72 (8/11)
  • Draw @ 3.30 (23/10).
