Croatia vs Finland
WC Qualification Europe
Date: 6th October 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stadion Gradski vrt.
Croatia have seriously compromised their situation in the Group I with back-to-back losses away from home to Iceland and Turkey.
Ante Cacic and his men will thus be under a huge pressure on Friday evening when they host Finland at Gradski vrt in Osijek in the penultimate round of the qualifying campaign.
Vatreni were more than dominant in the first half of the campaign when they seemed untouchable at the top of the standings.
However, the star-studded lineup showed signs of crisis failing to find targets in both Iceland and Turkey.
The momentum and the atmosphere in and around the national team is poor and it will be interesting to see how Modric, Rakitic, Mandzukic and company will react against an underdog here.
Huuhkajat started their qualifying campaign in a disastrous fashion suffering one defeat after another.
The momentum shifted on their side in September when they managed to take a shocking home victory over Iceland which Kanerva’s side successfully backed up three days later beating Kosovo 0-1 on the road.
Croatia vs Finland: Head to head
The match from this qualifying term was the first ever head to head encounter between the two sides.
It was Mario Mandzukic whose goal in the early stages of the game made all the difference.
Croatia vs Finland: Prediction
Finnish side showed huge signs of improvements in the defensive approach in September’s fixtures and we would not be surprised to see them causing troubles to the Croatian team here.
We’ll try with the Under 2.5 goals FT bet at the odds of 13/10.
