Coventry City proved the quality and confirmed the favourites tag by trashing Notts County 1-4 on the road last Friday away at Meadow Lane to book a spot in the promotional final against Exeter City. The Sky Blues were under a huge pressure after being held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the tie at their Ricoh Arena, but the immensely-talented attacking line (for League Two conditions) managed to put up a super strong showing.

Exeter City took advantage of the electrifying atmosphere at their St. James’ Park to clinch a rather comfortable 3-1 victory over Lincoln City after a goalless first leg at Sincil Bank Stadium. Team’s star man Jayden Stockley was the one who bagged the first goal of the semi-final tie midway through the first half of the reverse fixture, while Boateng and Harley extended the lead in the second half to make it 3-0 before the 70th minute of the game.

The Grecians did show fairly respectable defensive performances conceding just a single goal in two semi-final legs with Lincoln City, but they’ll be up against the strongest attacking line-up at this level of the competition.
On the other hand, this might be one of the last opportunities for Paul Tisdale to finally get Exeter City into the third tier after their long-term manager (12 years in charge) fell on the last obstacle in the previous term.
