Coventry City vs Notts County
English League Two
Date: Saturday, 12 May 2018
Kick-Off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Ricoh Arena, Coventry.
Looking from the investments point of view, Coventry would have the most to regret for in case of a failure to earn the instant promotion back to the League One football. The Sky Blues are definitely the most financially powerful of the four playoffs sides, but they need to prove it on the pitch.
They will have the chance to do so on Saturday evening when Notts County come to visit Ricoh Arena. Coventry’s form has seen a couple of massive stumbling blocks throughout the campaign forcing Mark Robins to make certain adjustments and allow creativity to his attacking lads. This resulted in some high-scoring contest causing six of last seven of their league ties to offered three or more goals with the option of both teams scoring.
Notts County were slightly more successful in the history as they lead the H2H tie by three wins, but it’s Coventry who were much more joyful at the end of matches at Ricoh Arena.
The Sky Blues won 6 and lost 3 of 9 home encounters with the Magpies.
This term’s meetings saw both teams snatch victories in front of the home crowd.
Notts County struggled with the form after losing Ryan Yates in January, but Kevin Nolan eventually managed to find the winning formula as the season got closer to the very end. The Magpies earned the fifth-place finish thanks to a run of three straight wins in April, but they’ll again come into this winless in last two league ties against Grimsby and Luton.
The goalless draw with the second-placed Luton Town on the final day will be highly encouraging for Kevin Nolan and his troops who will have a huge task stopping Mark McNulty. The Scottish striker bagged an impressive 23-goal tally; the best any Coventry City’s player has performer since Bobby Gould back in 1966/67.
In all, we do expect a high-scoring affair because of Coventry’s playing style in the last couple of months and we’ll go for the three or more goals pick at the 2.10 odds here.
