Cork City vs Derry City
Irish Premier Division
Date: 16th October 2017
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Turner’s Cross.
A real buzz is expected on Monday evening at Turner’s Cross when Cork City are expected to celebrate the ninth Premier Division title against Derry City.
The hosts finally managed to end Dundalk’s domination and they deservedly take the silverware having spent the entire season at the very top of the standings.
Rebel Army’s form has seen a bit of a slide in the recent period which is why their advantage is reduced to eight points, but it’s all a bit too late for Dundalk with no more than four games left to play until the end of the season.
John Caulfield’s side is actually winless in three straight league outings having allowed six goals in clashes with Shamrock Rovers, Limerick and Dundalk.
However, a point against the last term’s champions removed all doubts (if there were any) as dropping an eight-point cushion in last four games is really unthinkable.
Derry City held the third position throughout most of the season, but they will hardly get it after a horrendous run of three straight losses in Premier Division.
Luckily for Kenny Shiels, the streak was ended with a hardly-fought 2-1 win against the rock-bottomed Drogheda United, but the performance was anything but promising.
Cork City vs Derry City: Head to head
Rebel Army won three and drew one of the last four meetings with Derry City and we can only expect them to maintain the fine trend in H2H encounters this Monday.
Cork City vs Derry City: Prediction
The Northern Irish outfit does not seem capable of ruining the fun for the home team fans at Turner’s Cross and the home win should be a banker bet at the odds of ½ here.
