Coritiba vs Atletico Mineiro
Brasileiro Serie A
Date: Sunday, 30th July 2017
Kick off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Major Antonio Couto Pereira.
Atletico Mineiro just can’t seem to find a breakthrough in the new Serie A season. The latest of their failures happened in mid-week when they suffered a demolishing 3-0 defeat to Botafogo to end their Copa do Brasil campaign in the quarterfinal of the competition.
Galo will try to end the dismal streak this Sunday when they travel to Estadio Major Antonio Couto Pereira to take on the fellow strugglers Coritiba in the 17th round of Serie A.
Coxa Branca have not been enjoying a better shape as they have also lost each of their last three fixtures in Serie A.
The disastrous run caused the change on the bench as Marcelo Oliveira is set to make his debut as a new Coritiba’s head coach just against his former team.
Oliveira’s main task is to fix the holes in the defensive line since Coxa Branca has been way too easy to break down in the recent period.
The visitors have also decided to make the necessary change on the bench by hiring Rogerio Micale as the new heads coach.
However, Micale suffered a demolishing 3-0 defeat to Botafogo on Wednesday evening on his debut and he will be desperate to fix the impression this weekend against Coritiba.
Coritiba vs Atletico Mineiro: Head to head
Galo have been much more successful in head to head encounters as they lead the tie by seven wins ahead of the landmark 30th H2H meeting with Coritiba.
However, Coxa Branca managed to end Mineiro’s three-win streak in their previous clash back in November last year when they clinched a 2-0 victory.
Coritiba vs Atletico Mineiro: Prediction
This can easily go either way which is why we won’t meddle with the outcome of the match.
Instead, we expect to witness a gaol fest knowing that both sides have been poor at the back lately and we just can’t see any of the two teams keeping a clean sheet here.
