Chile vs Argentina
International – Friendlies
Date: Friday, 6 September 2019
Kick-off at 03:00 UK/ 04:00 CET
Venue: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (Los Angeles).
A match-up with a lot of history in the back-burner. The last time these two clashed heads-on, which was in the match for the third-place in the recently-concluded Copa America, the Albiceleste had won 2-1, courtesy goals by Sergio Aguero and Paulo Dybala, but at some cost though.
The usually calm Lionel Messi received his only second red card in his long career, and his subsequent comments saw the player receive a lengthy ban from international games.
The squads have even prior reasons to ignite some fierce rivalry. The Albiceleste have been shamed in front of the world stage for their inability to deliver a major international trophy, and twice in the last three years had Chile played spoilsport in the team’s quest for redemption, and that too at the very final obstacle.
The 2015 and 2016 Copa America Finals saw these two sides take on each other, and on each occasion, the Chileans prevailed in penalty shootouts, the second of which had even prompted Messi’s short-lived retirement.
At present, Gary Medel and his boys are trying to juice the last of their golden generation, while their counterparts are rebuilding with the hopes of a better performance in the 2020 continental championship.

Chile vs Argentina Prediction
First and foremost, this is a friendly, and the ever-present competitive spirit alongside the defensive prowess these two display against each other might be missing. Still, make no mistake though, both will be playing for the win.
But still, the absence of their talisman will likely hurt the 2014 World Cup runners-up, and as such Chile holds the high-card here. There are more reasons to support this hypothesis. La Roja has maintained the core of their team that won back-to-back Copas, whereas their opposite number is still trying to set a formidable squad before the next international tournament.
The White and Sky-Blues will find it hard to defeat the determined opposition that boasts the presence of some major European stars, which precisely the Abliceleste lacks if not for a few at the front.
As such, count on Chile to avoid a loss. But taking into account the huge stack of superior stats that Argentina holds against Chile, even the win they scored in the third-place match for the Copa, and finally the fact that this is a friendly, goals are sure to come at either end of the pitch.
