Chievo vs Sassuolo
2017/18 Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 4 March 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi (Verona).
Chievo and Sassuolo will be both hoping to improve their bad runs of form as they attempt to put some distance between themselves and the bottom three. The Flying Donkeys have lost four out of their last five games, but they did manage to end their long-standing winless streak by winning their last home game and will hope to make it back to back home victories this Sunday.
Sassuolo, meanwhile, are getting pretty desperate. The Neroverdi have failed to win their last eight Serie A games and have lost eight of their 13 road games this term. That being said, Chievo’s recent win was their first since the end of November. They failed to continue upwards after beating Cagliari, and come into this game having lost to Fiorentina. And notably, Chievo became the first team to lose to Benevento this term, but in beating Cagliari, they finally earned their first win of 2018.
The Neroverdi, by contrast, aren’t so lucky as they still have yet to win a game this year. The team who once were managing to mix it up with Italy’s biggest sides is a shadow of its former self, and since Eusebio Di Francesco’s departure, things have just not gone right for the 2013 debutants. Domenico Berardi, once viewed as a promising talent and who notably scored four goals against AC Milan back in 2014, has struggled to reach the same heights since – and won’t even play regardless, as he’s suspended.
Neither are in danger of relegation just yet, but they’re not out of the danger zone entirely as SPAL won their last game, thus closing the gap on Sassuolo to just three and Chievo to just five. Worrying times, obviously for two teams who never really thought they could potentially be sucked into a relegation battle.

Chievo vs Sassuolo: Prediction
If one expects to be entertained here, one will be best served to look elsewhere. Chievo and Sassuolo have combined for 38 goals this term – 15 for the Neroverdi. And four of the last five meetings here have seen less than three goals.
Both teams’ output this term is not a good return for any team hoping to avoid the drop, but fortunately, for now, they’ve been given some respite thanks to the struggles of Benevento, SPAL, and Hellas Verona. Both will be desperate for points and that could see them cancelling each other out.
