Chievo vs Roma
Italian Serie A
Date: Friday, 8 February 2019
Kick-Off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi (Verona).
Roma recovered from a demolishing 7-1 defeat to Fiorentina as they produced a much better display in a 1-1 draw to in-form Milan on Sunday at Olimpico. They were first to concede midway through the first half, but showed fighting spirit to claw their way back through Nicolo Zaniolo’s equalizer just after the break.
I Giallorossi were the superior side on the pitch in the second half, but failed to claim anything else but a point which kept them one point short of Rossoneri in the fourth place of the Serie A standings.
The Romans will thus be desperate to return to winning ways on Friday evening when they travel to Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi to take on the rock-bottomed Chievo.
The hosts will need a miracle to save the top flight status in the final third of the season. They are as many as nine points away from the safe zone and they own league’s worst defensive record with 44 goals allowed in 22 matches (two per game).
Chievo vs Roma: Head-to-head
Roma were the dominant force in the history of head to head games against I Gialloblu.
Chievo are winless in last 11 meetings with I Giallorossi.
Roma won four and drew two of last six encounters with Chievo.
Chievo vs Roma: Prediction
The team led by Domenico Di Carlo continued to be vulnerable at the back in recent fixtures. They conceded nine goals in last three league matches. This will be the music to the ears of Edin Dzeko who is looking to boost up the momentum ahead of the Champions League fixture against Porto next week.
Roma have a dangerous attacking line-up with the likes of Dzeko, Schick, Florenzi, Zaniolo, Kluivert and El-Shaarawy. They have an imperative to claim the victory and we expect them to do so and to bag loads past the weakest defensive line in the division.
