Chievo vs Crotone
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday, 6 May 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK,
Venue: Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi (Verona).
It was bound to happen at some point. Chievo are now in the relegation zone after a horrible run of form and the Flying Donkeys are looking set for the drop thanks to their awful performances all season. They’re finally paying the price for their complacency, which now sees them sitting in 18th spot with just three games remaining and Rolando Maran has been given the boot in a desperate attempt to turn things around.
But is it too little, too late? Crotone, meanwhile, are deservedly inching closer towards making it a third straight season in the top flight. The Squali haven’t had the easiest season but they are well on their way. Currently, they find themselves in 15th spot, having won two on the spin, but are just a few points away from the drop, so aren’t out of the danger zone just yet.
Chievo are the only team who have yet to even beat Crotone over the course of the last two points. Amazingly, they have lost three times to the debutants, which doesn’t bode well for them whatsoever. They come into this game without a win in their last six games and are looking set to head back down to Serie B unless if they can turn things around quickly.
The Flying Donkeys have failed to win 12 of their last 17 home games which gives Crotone a good chance to continue their decent form and make it three wins on the spin. Can they get a good result?
Chievo have won just twice at home since November. Overall, they have won just two in their last 22 games and will be taking on a Crotone side who have lost just one of their last five. Impressively, they have won three of their last five games and even managed to draw Juventus, so we’re backing them to pick up at least a point against a badly performing Chievo here and continue their push to stay afloat on Sunday.
