Chicago Fire vs New York City FC
2018 Major League Soccer
Date: Sunday, 1 July 2018
Kick-Off at 01:00 UK
Venue: Toyota Park (Bridgeview, Illinois).
New York City have just returned to the winning ways in a 2-1 home win over Toronto last week and they travel to Chicago on Sunday in the hope they can build on the success and snatch points at Toyota Park.
The Pigeons have struggled on the road recently, though, and this will be more worrying ahead of the clash in Bridgeview.
They’ve earned just one point in five away games since late April, holding off Los Angeles FC but suffering losses at Portland, New York RB, Houston, and New York RB in US Open Cup – with just one goal scored along the way.
Chicago Fire boast a six-game unbeaten streak, on the other hand, earning three draws in their last four outings.
They’ve held Seattle Sounders to a 1-1 draw on Sunday and we’ve seen them regularly find the net, as Veljko Paunovic’s men look desperate to build on it and break into the Eastern Conference top 6.
Chicago Fire vs New York City FC: Head-to-head
Chicago Fire have bagged just one win in seven head-to-head clashes so far, coming in April 2015.
New York City have earned three wins and three draws since then.
We’ve seen a 1-1 draw in the sides’ last matchup, sharing the spoils at this ground back in October 2017.
Chicago Fire vs New York City FC: Prediction
We’ll now back the visitors to build on unbeaten records against the rivals but stick our necks out for a Draw at 3.40. We have seen them far from impressive on the road recently but we do see them putting on a great challenge in a very narrow contest.
They should have to score goals to do so and with that in mind, we’ll now also back a Yes on Both teams to score at 1.50.
Both sides have been scoring goals on the regular over the recent weeks and this does shape to be more of a banker bet at this point – with goals on both ends seen in all of their last three head-to-head clashes.
Chicago Fire vs New York City FC: Bet Tips
- Draw @ 3.40
- Both teams to score YES @ 1.50.
