Chelsea are willing to pay 60 million euros to Borussia Dortmund to gain the services of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang when the winter transfer window opens in January.
Jose Mourinho has identified the need for quality reinforcements in all departments of his squad and the change in personals is imminent to reverse the bad situation of the London club in the first half of the season.
Change in Personal imminent at Chelsea
The Portuguese coach is preparing a revolution in their squad and it is speculated that he is planning to let six players leave in the winter transfer market as it is believed that some players are not committed to the club.
Roman Abramovich, the Russian owner of the Chelsea Blues has offered his full support to his head-coach and is ready to back his requests with much needed financial injections in order to recruit at-least six new arrivals.
Aubameyang fits well into Mourinho’s tactical set-up at Chelsea
Aubameyang, who was brought up the youth ranks at AC Milan failed to make a single senior appearance for the Italian club in three seasons and was loaned out to the likes of Dijon, Lille, Monaco and Saint Etienne.
He finally made his move to Saint Etienne permanent in December 2011 before arriving at Signal Iduna Park in July 2013.
Aubameyang is in terrific form this season has notched 15 goals to his name in 13 Bundesliga appearances and stays at the top of the goal scoring charts leapfrogging Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.
The 26 year old Gabonese international is known for his for his physical strength, speed, versatility and effectiveness in front of goal, something which completely suits Mourinho’s tactics at Chelsea.
Goal Scoring Record may prompt the striker to snub Chelsea
A major factor that may motivate Aubameyang to snub Chelsea and stay with the Bundesliga team is that he is in with a real chance to break inside the 30 goals-mark in a single Bundesliga season.
This record is as old as 1976-77 season, since Koln’s Dieter Muller found the net a stunning 34 times. But Gerd Muller’s scoring record takes us back to the 1971-72 season, where he scored 40 goals.
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is also in a fine run and is a favorite to break the record after scoring 14 goals so far this season.
Another think which may work against Chelsea is Aubameyang’s strong relation with team-mate Marco Reus. The German publication Sportsbild has claimed that Aubameyang has promised Reus that he will not leave the Signal Iduna Park while the German winger is still there
Dortmund want to keep their key player, but €60m is too hard to resist
However, Borussia Dortmund would like to hold on to their star man this season to aid their qualification for the UEFA Champions League next season.
The player was also a target of Arsenal in the last transfer window and after weeks of speculation Dortmund had turned down any approach from the Londoners by insisting he is not for sale.
A bid in the region of €60 million from Chelsea may be too good to turn down and the player himself may be tempted to play his trade in the English Premier League.
