Celtic vs Rangers
Scotland – Premiership
Date: Sunday, 29 April 2018
Kick-Off at 12:00 UK
Venue: Celtic Park (Glasgow).
Celtic host Rangers just two weeks after bagging four in a demolishing FA Cup semifinal victory in the Old Firm derby. Premiership is the occasion this time out and the Bhoys will once again be massive favourites to clinch the spoils against fierce rivals in front of the home fans.
Teams will, however, come into the match in opposite spirits after last weekend’s results. Brendan Rodgers’ men dropped the ball losing 2-1 away at Hibernian on Saturday, while the Gers expectedly saw off Hearts 2-1 the day after at Ibrox. Goals came through Jason Cummings and Daniel Candeias. It will be interesting to see if Cummings will get the chance to make another start instead of team’s top scorer Alfredo Morelos here.
The look at the standings reveals that Celtic will likely defend the silverware without any troubles, being ten points clear off the second-placed Rangers and Aberdeen. Graeme Murty’s side will fight for the first second-place finish since the return to the Premiership, but they could well be in a new deficit to the Dons after this weekend and the match at Celtic Park.
Celtic vs Rangers: Head-to-head
Overall, Celtic lead the head to head tie by ten wins, but they’ve entirely dominated this match-up in the last decade.
The Bhoys notched as many as seven goals in last two demolishing victories over bitter rivals.
Celtic won five and drew one of last six meetings with the Gers.
Celtic vs Rangers: Prediction
Murty was not able to find the solution for Celtic’s deadly attacking lineup in the latest set of Old Firm derbies. We can hardly see this change in just two weeks and there are no doubts the likes of Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths, Scott Sinclair & company will once again have plenty of room to exploit the obvious holes in Rangers’ defensive line.
The hosts are definitely worth backing to bag two or more goals at the 1.61 odds here, while you should not make a mistake backing Celtic to win at 1.57 either. Rangers conceded at least a goal in each of last five away games in all competitions.
