Celtic vs Kilmarnock
Date: Wednesday, 9 May 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Celtic Park, Glasgow.
The newly-crowned champions started the post-season with a disappointing 2-1 loss away at Hibernian, but they quickly returned to be old habits winning the following two games to go 12 points clear off the second-placed Aberdeen. Brendan Rodgers’ men will be hoping to keep the good form going on Wednesday when they host Killie in mi-week’s round at Celtic Park.
The visitors just can’t seem to find a breakthrough in the Championship Round and they’ll head into this of the back of three straight losses. The last one came on Saturday afternoon when Kilmarnock fell to Celtic’s bitter city rivals Rangers 1-0 away at Ibrox.
Killie will finish the season in fifth place as they have nowhere to go in the remaining two games. They shipped six goals in last two matches on the road, including five to Hibernian ten days ago.
Celtic vs Kilmarnock: Head-to-head
Celtic dominated this match-up over the history, but it’s Killie who picked up four points from last two league ties with the Bhoys.
Rodgers and his men will thus be extra-motivated to get the revenge for the 1-0 loss at Rugby Park back in early-February this year.
Celtic were on a run of six subsequent victories over Kilmarnock previously.
At home, the Bhoys won 31 and lost just 2 of 41 clashes with Killie.
Celtic vs Kilmarnock: Prediction
Kilmarnock’s defensive line will be under a huge pressure on Wednesday given Celtic will come into this after netting as many as eight goals in last two wins over Rangers and Hearts. Knowing that the visitors shipped five to Hibernian recently, backing the Bhoys to notch three or more looks sweet at 1.80 here.
Moussa Dembele was the standout performer for the hosts netting a goal in each of the aforementioned back-to-back wins in last two rounds. You can back the Frenchman to score anytime at 1.53 here.
