Cagliari vs Hellas Verona: Prediction
Cagliari have managed to turn their season around with the wins against Parma (3-1), Genoa (3-1) and, most recently, Napoli (1-0). The Sardinians were under heavy pressure at San Paolo stadium as Azzurri attacked in numbers, looked dangerous as ever, but Olsen was brilliant between the posts. In the end, one chance after counterattack was enough to stun the hosts and claim all three points.
With three wins and two losses, they’re currently 5th in the standings. Cagliari will take on Hellas Verona on Sunday. Cragno, Farago and Pavoletti are injured, Radja Nanggolan and Ragatzu will be evaluated.
Hellas Verona, sitting at 16th position with one win, two draws and two losses, fought extremely well against Juventus (1-2) last week and almost managed to nick an equalizer, and went on to play a goalless draw against Udinese on Tuesday night.
After disappointing first half performance, Verona began piling on the pressure in the second half, had failed to break the deadlock. The Scaligers are a decent side, tough to beat, but they need to add quality striker in January transfer window. Bocchetti, Badu, Bessa and Di Carmine are unlikely to play.
The Sardinians are brimming with confidence right now. They have scored seven goals in last three games. Their overall numbers are quite decent as well with an average of 1.60 goals scored per game, whilst conceding 1.00.
Hellas Verona’s numbers are quite low on both ends. They are scoring and conceding the same amount of goals on their travels – one per game. I won’t pay attention to their overall numbers as they received two early red cards vs Bologna and Milan that had an impact on their game plan.
We have praised Cagliari in the past and backed them against Parma and Genoa, and we’ll do the same here. They have enough quality to defeat the resilient Verona side. As for the second bet, I’ll go with 2-3 goals, since I have a 2-0 or 2-1 hunch.
