Cagliari vs Roma: Match Preview
The Sardinians’ match on the mainland against Hellas Verona got postponed due to coronavirus outbreak in the Veneto region. Everything is fine on the island, though, and Sardegna Arena should be packed for this one.
Rolando Maran’s side is currently riding a devastating ten-game winless streak in the league that stretches back to December 8th. They upped their game to an extent in mid-January and recorded three draws on the trot, but ended up empty-handed in their last two Serie A outings – against Genoa (0-1) and Napoli (0-1).
Cagliari has registered five wins, two draws and five losses in the own backyard, averaging 1.83 goals scored per bout, whilst allowing 1.58 goals in return. ‘Il Sardi’ have picked up four points from their last five home matches.
Roma snapped their three-game losing streak in the league with an emphatic 4-0 home victory over Lecce. Paulo Fonseca’s boys controlled the game from start to finish, recorded 19 shots, 11 on target, produced 13 goal-scoring chances and kept a clean sheet in the league for the first time since a goalless draw at Inter on December 6th.
The Roman side is fifth in the league with 42 points, six-points clear of Europa League-chasing sides, and three points off of Atalanta, who also have a game in hand.
The Giallorossi have posted six wins, three draws and three defeats away from Stadio Olimpico this season, scoring 1.75 goals per match on average and conceding 1.08. They have taken seven points from their last five road fixtures.
