Cagliari vs Fiorentina: Prediction
It’s official – Cagliari are the real deal. We tipped them to bounce back and turn their season around ever since Genoa game at Sardegna Arena, and they over delivered with an excellent run, even beaten Atalanta (2-0) on the road, which, quite frankly, caught me by surprise.
Their unbeaten run remained intact and extended to nine games. With 21pts to their name, Cagliari are sitting at 6th position, levelled on points with Lazio and Roma and three points above last season’s runner-ups, Napoli.
Pavoletti and Cragno are months away from full fitness, while Ceppitelli is highly doubtful.
Fiorentina failed to get back to winning ways at Artemio Franchi as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Parma. Despite a commanding performance in the second half, Viola only managed to level the score through fantastic Gaetano Castrovilli.
With four wins, four draws and three losses to date, Florence-based club are currently 8th in the standings, five points behind their next opposition.
Caceres is out for the guests, Lirola should make the bench, Ribery is suspended.
The Sardinians have claimed 10 points from last four games at Sardegna Arena. They have an average of 1.67 goals scored per game at this ground, whilst allowing 1.17. 67% of their games it this venue had BTTS – Yes.
La Viola are on an unbeaten run of four games away from home. After losing 2-1 to Genoa in the second round, Fiorentina went on to collect 8 points on the road. Their numbers are quite like Sardi’s – 1.60 goals scored p/g – 1.20 conceded. Both teams have scored in 80% of their away games.
Cagliari have a stellar midfield and dangerous duo up-front – Joao Pedro and Giovanni Simeone have scored 8 goals combined this season. This will be a special occasion for Cholo Junior since he’s on a loan from Fiorentina with an obligation to buy.
Fiorentina’s games on the road are usually action-packed with goals on both ends. I believe they can find the net here, even without Ribery, but I have to give hosts an edge in DNB market.
Smells like 2-1 or 1-1 to me, so I’ll pick BTTS – Yes as well.
