Venue:  Al Salam Stadium (Cairo).

With zero wins in their last two group clashes, Burundi have currently hit rock bottom in their group. Their previous fixture against Madagascar saw them lose out on the game by a 1-0 scoreline, despite finishing the game with thirteen attempts at goal and enjoying slightly better possession with the ball.

The squad were able to work the opposing goalkeeper on just two occasions in the entire ninety minutes. They finally paid the price for not finding the back of the net when Marco Ilaimaharitra made no mistake in firing his squad into the lead, in the 76th minute, with a sublime free kick goal from just outside the box.

Their foes for Sunday failed to taste success in their own second-round group clash as well and were handed a 1-0 defeat by Nigeria at the last blast of the final whistle. Despite both the sides enjoying almost equal possession with the ball, the Nigerians managed 10 attempts at goal, which was two more than their opponents could accomplish.

The score was level at the break with neither breaking the deadlock. However, Nigeria finally took matters into their own hands in the 73rd minute through Kenneth Omeruo whose perfect header was no match for the defense or the goalkeeper.

The loss has left them on third with one point with their hopes of a top-two finish, hanging by a thread.

Burundi vs Guinea Head to head (h2h)

The teams have not met each other on any occasion.

Burundi vs Guinea Prediction

Guinea are likely to edge past their opponents Burundi in their clash on Sunday at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo.

The latter failed to find the back of the net in their fixtures against Nigeria and Madagascar and succumbed to a 1-0 score line on both the occasions. Olivier Niyungeko’s men have not been keeping their foes at bay in the latter forty-five minutes and have been consistent in conceding after the 75th minute.

Paul Put’s side managed to hold Madagascar to a 2-2 draw in their opening fixture following which they were handed a 1-0 loss at the hands of Nigeria. The squad looked poised to hold the latter to a stalemate in that game but a set piece routine in the second half outclassed them by a mile.

Both the squads have been dismal in their defensive third and have been conceding goals in the late into the second half. We can certainly expect a low scoring clash between the two teams, with the win likely to swing in favor of Guinea at the end of the ninety minutes.
