Burnley vs Wolves
England – Premier League
Date: Wednesday, 15 July 2020
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: Turf Moor.
The Clarets once again showcased the last match-day just how much of a defensive power they were, with a great performance against champions Liverpool. Despite fielding his best front-three, Jurgen Klopp was denied a win at the fabled Anfield.
As of now, they are placed tenth in the table, with 50 points, and need a surplus of two points from the remaining three games in order to make it into Europe.
Meanwhile, the Wanderers are going after a European ticket as well, and their failure to show consistency in performances since the lockdown was lifted, has affected their chances a bit.
Considering how Sean Dyche’s men have played all through 2020, their form at home, their recent h2h superiority over this opponent, and the recent struggles of the Wanderers – it’s adjudged that Burnley are about to deliver the better performance this Wednesday.
Burnley vs Wolves: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.
- Three of the former four wins had gone to the Clarets.
- They have lost just once in the past decade.
- Since 2010, the hosts have a 100% winning record at this venue in PL fixtures.
- The latest encounter at this venue had ended in a 2-0 victory for the hosts.
Burnley vs Wolves: Prediction
Dyche’s men recorded a 1-1 draw at the Anfield the last match-day, against Liverpool. Not only did the former put an end to the English champions’ winning run at the venue, but they have also built enough confidence to target the whole remaining nine points from the last three fixtures.
In the meantime, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men registered a 3-0 win at home against Everton. Either team seemed to have equal footing, until a late penalty was awarded to the hosts in the first half. Thereafter they managed to secure the win easily.
As things stand, the Clarets seem to be the favorites. They were unbeaten in ten of the former eleven overall fixtures, and this sole loss had come against Manchester City.
They have also performed well against some of the best teams in England at this venue in the past game weeks. The list includes Leicester, Arsenal, Tottenham, Sheffield United etc. Moreover, they have an unbeaten record in h2h clashes here since 2010.
Going on, Santo’s men have found it hard to deliver good matches on the road, and of their total six wins away from home since October 2019 – four had come against the bottom-five teams in the table, including all three squads in the relegation zone.
Taking into account these observations, expect Burnley to avoid a loss at the least this Wednesday.
