Burnley vs West Ham
English Premier League
Date: Sunday, 30 December 2018
Kick-Off at 14:15 UK / 15:15 CET
Venue: Turf Moor (Burnley).
Burnley suffered a real disaster on Boxing Day as they fell 1-5 at home to Everton. The third consecutive defeat kept Sean Dyche’s troops in the red zone coming into the final fixture of the year against West Ham United at Turf Moor.
It was a one-way street from the very get go as the Toffees went three goals up by 22nd minute when Gylfi Sigurdsson converted the penalty-kick. Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne previously notched goals for Everton.
Clarets got some hope when Ben Gibson pulled one back before the half time, but they failed to threaten Everton’s lead as the visitors found two ore goals to make it 1-5 at the end.
Sean Dyche’s men thus allowed as many as eight goals in last two defeats to Arsenal and Everton. It will be the music to the ears of the likes of Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson and Javier Hernandez who have all been enjoying a fine form in recent months.
Burnley vs West Ham: Head-to-head
Clarets claimed four points from two clashes with the Hammers in the previous term of Premier League (1-1 and 0-3).
West Ham took a 4-2 victory when teams played each other in November at London Stadium.
Burnley won 14, drew 11 and lost only 6 of 31 home clashes against West Ham.
Burnley vs West Ham: Prediction
It has been quite a turbulent campaign for West Ham so far in the season. They started off in a slower fashion, but managed to find the right form in recent months. The Hammers won four on the bounce in Premier League, but saw the streak come to an end last weekend when they fell 0-2 at home to Watford.
The head coach Manuel Pellegrini has plenty of issues with injured players. Marko Arnautovic is still sidelined, but goals do come from behind as the likes of Anderson and Snodgrass get their names on the scoreline quite frequently this season.
Burnley lost four of last five home outings in the league. They were way too easy to break down of late and we can hardly see them holding the Hammers down here. West Ham to net two or more goals is well worth backing at 2.10.
