Burnley vs Liverpool: Preview and Predictions

Burnley vs Liverpool
English Premier League
Date: Monday, 1 January 2018
Kick-Off: 15:00 UK
Venue: Turf Moor (Burnley).

Liverpool somehow managed to turn thing around after conceding an early opener against Leicester City on Saturday. It was their star man and top scorer Mohamed Salah who completed a brace to bring his team a much-important victory and help the reds keep ground on Chelsea and Manchester United in the battle for the second place in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have thus made it three wins and a draw in last four ties, but they should have a challenging task in their first action in 2’018 when they are to travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley. The Clarets are one of the most pleasant surprises of the first part of the season in the Premier League and they currently sit at the sky-high seventh place in the league table.

Nonetheless, the hosts seem to have the old scoring issues as they’ll come into the clash with the Reds after failing to find the back of the net in three consecutive league outings. It includes the goalless draw away at St. James’ Park on Saturday evening. The manager Sean Dyche will be without an important regular Robbie Brady who is absent due to injury.

Klopp also has minor injury troubles as neither Alberto Moreno nor Nathaniel Clyne will be able to feature the clash at Turf Moor. Liv’pool’s attacking lineup enjoys a phenomenal form at the moment, but it will be very interesting to see how they’ll react when they come face to face with one of the best defensive lines in the league on Monday.

Salah has been just unstoppable so far in the season. A race against the Foxes has seen his take his league tally to 15 goals and we can only suggest backing him as the anytime goalscorer against the Clarets.

Burnley vs Liverpool: Predictions

Even though Burnley have been enjoying a fine spell of form so far in the season, we have to see Liverpool as clear favourites to get away with points from T7rf Moor.

The Clarets have failed to find the net in losses to league’s heavyweights Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at home (their lone defeats at Turf Moor).

Liverpool have scored three or more goals in each of last six games on the road in all competitions which gives a decent value to Liv’pool to win by two goals bet at the odds of 2.35.

Burnley vs Liverpool: Bet Tips

  • Liverpool to win 1.45
  • Liverpool -1.5 handicap 2.35

Burnley vs Liverpool: Head-to-head

Burnley have been a tricky opposition to Liverpool over the years. The Clarets actually lead the head to head tie by six wins (in home matches with Liv’pool) coming into their 38th meeting at Turf Moor.

Overall, Liverpool are better with 31 wins in 72 games.

The Clarets have pulled off a shocking 1-1 draw at Anfield when the two likes met each other in mid-September this year.
