Burnley vs Everton
English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 5 December 2020
Kick-off at 12:30 UK/ 13:30 CET
Venue: Turf Moor.
The Toffees were the best team in the competition a few match-days before, and were placed at the top of the table. They were on course to deliver a great campaign, before they began to let go of their intensity.
Currently they are placed eighth in the table, five points below the toppers. They need to act fast if they are to still be in the title equation.
Fortunately, they are pitted against one of the worst teams in the league this weekend, and this is a huge opportunity to record a confidence-boosting win. And frankly, the manager as well as the players desperately need such a victory.
The Clarets are in the 19th spot at the moment, and only two recently-promoted teams have conceded more goals than them so far. Moreover, Sean Dyche’s men also have an inferior h2h record against this rival over the years.
Likely, expect Everton to have the upper hand this Saturday at the Turf Moor.
Burnley vs Everton: Head-to-head (h2h)
- Carlo Ancelotti’s men had recorded a 1-0 win at home in the latest face-to-face game.
- They had won three of the former four encounters.
- They have conceded a total of just one goal from the preceding three games.
- In the past decade, the guests have failed to score just once at this stadium.
Burnley vs Everton: Prediction
Sean Dyche’s men lost 5-0 on the road the last match-day, against Manchester City. In the meantime, the Toffees lost 0-1 at home the past game week, against Leeds.
Going on, the Clarets were winless in 12 of their previous 14 games, and they had failed to score goals in seven of their last nine fixtures.
At home, they had lost four of their preceding five appearances, and remained winless in eight of their last nine games here as well. In addition, they had scored a total of just one goal from their past five fixtures at home.
On the other hand, their counterparts were unbeaten in 12 of their former 16 overall games, and had scored two or more goals in ten of their previous fifteen match-ups as well.
And away from home, they were unbeaten in six of their preceding eight fixtures, and had won four of their last six such games. In the process, they had also scored a total of 15 goals from their last seven road trips.
Taking these observations into account, it’s clear that Everton are the better team by a mile, and with them desperate for the three points – it’s highly probable that Burnley have no chance at all this Saturday.
