Burnley vs Chelsea Match Preview and Predictions

Burnley vs Chelsea
England – Premier League
Date: Thursday, 19 April 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Turf Moor (Burnley).

If anyone deserves a European adventure next term, it’s Sean Dyche and his Burnley. Clarets have done miracle in this term of the Premier League and they are only two points shy of the sixth-placed Arsenal after a streak of five wins in a row in the competition. Can they keep such an amazing run going on Thursday when last season’s winners Chelsea come to Turf Moor?

Chris Wood was the catalyst for the rise in Burnley’s form. The former Leeds United striker notched as many as five goals in last five appearances for Clarets. He was on target on Saturday by breaking the deadlock early on in a 2-1 win over Leicester City, also at Turf Moor. Burnley are also undefeated in last four league ties in front of the home fans, a streak which started back in early-February with a 1-1 draw to the new Premier League champions Manchester City.

The story is completely opposite with Chelsea who have had a dismal campaign this season. Antonio Conte’s men were not even close to the title defense and they will not even feature the most elite football competition next term. The Blues sit down at fifth being seven points short of Tottenham Hotspur in four. They’ve been pretty easy to break down lately, but they eventually managed to steal the victory last weekend beating Southampton 2-3 after a second-half comeback at Stadium of Light.

Burnley vs Chelsea: Head-to-head

Five of last six head to head ties between these likes saw both teams on the scoreline.

Visits to Turf Moor have never been a pleasant experience for Chelsea who lost as many as 18 and won only 8 of 35 matches there.

Clarets stunned the Blues at the start of the season beating them 2-3 at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley vs Chelsea: Prediction

Burnley are no doubts the form favourites and the value has to be with them not to lose at the sky-high 1.90 odds. They will need to keep an eye on Olivier Giroud who bagged a brace after coming on from the bench in Sunday’s victory over Southampton. Chelsea lost three straight league ties on the road before this win.

Chris Wood will have a nice chance to keep his stellar run of form going since the Blues were pretty vulnerable at the back recently. Nonetheless, since Chelsea also scored three last weekend and since five of last six H2H games saw both the BTTS option “come in”, we’ll take this bet as well at the odds of 1.95.
