The Thai club Buriram United have a tough task at hand as they are drawn against 2016 champions Jeonbuk FC in the round of 16 of this season’s Champions League.
Buriram done a decent job to put themselves into the knockout round. They were huge underdogs in the group won by the new way Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande and zonal heavy weights Jeju United and Cerezo Osaka. They only managed to do this by the slimmest 1 point margin at the end, mainly by holding the strong oppositions to stalemates.
The 2016 champions Jeonbuk failed to qualify for the main competition last season, but they have returned to the scene with a bang. Despite bagging 15 points via five wins, they scored 22 goals, the highest in the group phase this season. They are a scary opponent for any team in the region especially with the scoring prowess in the away games.

Buriram’s chances of qualifying is solely dependent on the result from this first leg since Jeonbuk are very confident of blowing out anyone at their own turf.
However, the Thais do not have a good record against Korean opponents even in games at their home ground (1 win & 3 losses). Therefore, I hardly see them getting anything out of this match, especially when Jeonbuk are scoring goals for fun at the moment, 22 from 6 Champions League game this season and 12 from the 3 away games.
