Bulgaria vs Finland
UEFA Nations League
Date: Sunday, 15 November 2020
Kick-off at 17:00 UK/ 18:00 CET
Venue: Nacionalen Stadion Vasil Levski.
The Lions have ruled themselves out of contention for promotion with some abysmal performances so far. Currently they are placed dead last in the table, and are still searching for their first win. In fact, a more precise description would be – they have lost all but one of their match-ups till now.
And in the process they have conceded the most number of goals, as well as have scored the least. Meanwhile, the Eagle-owls are placed second in the table, one point below toppers Wales. These two are also locked in a race to get promoted to League A.
With just two match-days remaining, tensions are running high. Markku Kanerva’s men had lost their opening fixture against Wales, and since h2h results are the tie-breakers in case of same points, the former need to target six points from their remaining two games – starting with this upcoming encounter.
Considering current form of the Lions as well as the Eagle-owls, Finland seem the right choice to be backed for a win.
Bulgaria vs Finland: Head-to-head (h2h)
- The reverse fixture saw Kanerva’s men recording a 2-0 win at home. The game had taken place just three weeks back.
- However, barring that meeting, they have lost every single match-up against this opponent since 1960.
- At home, Georgi Dermendzhiev’s men have a 100% winning record, and they have scored two or more goals in all those fixtures.
- They have a combined scorecard of 11-1, from the last four clashes at home.
Bulgaria vs Finland: Prediction
The Eagle-owls recorded a 1-0 win at home the last match-day in the competition, against Ireland. Importantly they just defeated world champions France with a 2-0 scorecard this Wednesday.
In the meantime, Dermendzhiev’s men lost 0-1 at home against Wales. Going on, they were also winless in 18 of their former 20 overall fixtures, and they had lost 11 of their last 15 games.
At home, they were winless in nine of their previous eleven appearances, and in the UNL, they have lost all but one of their matches.
On the other hand, their counterparts are on a three-game winning run, and they had recorded a 5-0 combined scorecard in the process. They are also desperate to win this fixture, as they are chasing Wales for the top-most spot.
By all means, expect the in-form Finland to secure the three points this Sunday, and provide some tough competition for Gareth Bale and co.
