Bristol City vs Brentford: Preview and Predictions

Bristol City vs Brentford Prediction 2nd April 2018

Bristol City vs Brentford
England – Championship
Date: Monday, 2 April 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Ashton Gate Stadium (Bristol).

The Robins have failed to take advantage of the easier fixture on Friday when they took on the relegation strugglers Barnsley, only to play a 1-1 draw away at Oakwell Stadium. Lee Johnson’s men will have a much tougher challenge three days later when Brentford are about to visit Ashton Gate in one of the most interesting fixture of the round.

The Bees sit 11th in the league ladder, seven points away from the playoffs contest. It’s obviously hard to imagine them joining such battle with only seven games left to play until the end of the campaign, but there are no doubts they will be a tough opposition for any team in the final quarter of the season. Dean Smith’s men have been in sort of a crisis lately and they are winless in last four league outings (two draws and losses each). Nonetheless, they have avoided defeats in last two ties, and given that the opposition included the likes of Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, it’s not such a disappointing return.

Bristol sit right on the brink of the top six spots after the mentioned draw at Barnsley. The Robins generally tend to play much better in front of their fans where the team is unbeaten in last six outings in Championship. Furthermore, they’ll come into this off the back of two straight victories at Ashton Gate (4-0 over Sheffield Wednesday and 1-0 over Ipswich Town).

Bristol City vs Brentford: Head-to-head

Brentford have been slightly more successful over history winning 14 and losing 9 of 33 ties against Bristol City.

The teams have shared spoils in a 2-2 thriller back in August last year when they locked horns at Griffin Park.

Overall, five of last seven head to head encounters have seen both sides on the scoresheet.

Bristol City vs Brentford: Prediction

Brentford have been playing hot and cold throughout the entire season. They will be a tough nut to crack here, but we’ll stick to the hosts and back them to clinch a victory by exactly one goal difference at the odds of 4.33.

We alternatively find the value in backing the Under 2.5 goals FT bet at the 2.15 odds given the Bees will likely park the bus and wait for their chances from the counter attacks.
