Brisbane Roar vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Australian A-League
Date: Friday, 8 March 2019
Kick-Off at 08:50 UK / 09:50 CET
Venue: Suncorp Stadium (Brisbane).

Brisbane Roar took advantage of the fixture against the rock-bottomed Central Coast Mariners to bag five goals and rebound from a tough 4-0 defeat to leaders Perth Glory in the previous round. They still sit second from bottom in the A-League ladder after a dreadful kick off to the season. Darren Davies’ me will be hoping to make it two wins on the spin in the league on Friday when they take on bottom-half fellows Western Sydney Wanderers.

However, the visitors will also enter the match in the highest of spirits. They grew in form rapidly in the last couple of weeks. The Wanderers took seven out of nine possible points from past three rounds. They held table-toppers Perth Glory to a 1-1 draw in the previous round two weeks ago at Spotless Stadium.

Brisbane Roar vs Western Sydney Wanderers: Head-to-head

Western Sydney Wanderers lead the head to head tie by one win coming into 26th meeting with the Roar.

Each of last two head to head encounters brought identical 2-2 scoreline.

The Wanderers are unbeaten in past four matches against the Roar and thy bagged two or more goals in each of outings along the way.

Brisbane Roar vs Western Sydney Wanderers: Prediction

The Wanderers struggled for meticulousness at the back at the start of the season, but they seem to have repaired defensive holes in recent weeks. Markus Babbel’s men conceded just two goals in last three league outings. Given they played the likes of Adelaide United and Perth Glory in past two rounds, we have to say it’s a fascinating run for such defensively-limited squad.

The visitors will have to keep a close look on Adam Taggart who netted 11 goals so far in the season for Brisbane Roar. The hosts have, however, bee super easy to break down at the opposite end lately and they have competition’s second worst defensive record with 46 goals allowed in 20 rounds.

We can hardly expect any of these two likes keeping their net untouched on the occasion which is why backing goals seems to be the way to go here.
