Brighton vs Southampton
English Premier League
Date: Monday 6th December 2020
Kick off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: AMEX Stadium (Brighton)
Monday night football in the Premier League will see just one game as Brighton try to build on last weekend’s result of drawing against Liverpool and move up the table.
The Seagulls form is good coming into this match with just one defeat from their last five. They are in 16th place and four points from the bottom three though all that could change at the weekend before they have to play.
Whilst Brighton would not move up a place if they win they would put a little more distance between themselves and the threat of relegation, and add to their confidence.
Overall home form has been poor for Brighton with no wins as of yet however they have drawn their last three matches in a row.
Southampton have gone their last two games without a win, which is unfortunate as they have been a surprise package so far and are currently in sixth place.
Last weekend the Saints lost 3-2 against Manchester United and this was a poor result for them given that they were leading the game 2-0 with just 30 minutes left to play.
Still they have picked up 10 points from their last 15 available and away from home they are unbeaten in their last four which makes them a danger here.
Brighton vs Southampton: Head to Head
- Last season Southampton won this fixture 2-0.
- Brighton have not beaten Southampton since 2012 going back 9 games.
- 6 of the past seven meetings has ended in under 2.5 goals.
Brighton vs Southampton: Prediction
Brighton have shown a lot of fight lately and will be ready for this game, Southampton has the better team but have not been themselves and their winning run has stopped.
One of those reasons could be because main striker Danny Ings has been out injured though it is rumoured he could make his comeback for this match, this hasn’t been confirmed though.
We expect a close game and history points to a draw, there have been many between the teams, this is a risky choice but we will take this on. Both sides right now would be happy to settle for a point.
