Brighton qualified for the third round of the fixture after two easy wins in the previous rounds of the tournament. They defeated lower leagues sides Colchester United 4-0 and Oxford United 4-2 to reach this far. The crashed out of the second round last term. They are having a decent run in the League Championship and will to use the momentum to progress deep into the Cup competition in search of a silverware.

Reading have also made a good start to their Championship campaign after managing 4 wins and 2 draws from their 8 matches so far. In the cup competition they defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0 in the first round, but need the lucky lot of penalty-shootout to overcome Milton Keynes Dons in the second round. Reading’s run in the cup competition came to a halt in this very round last season after losing 2-1 to Everton. They will need a better performance than in the second round off a strong Brighton on Tuesday night.

Brighton vs Reading: Head-to-Head Stats

The teams have already met once in the Championship this season. The meeting on 20th August at Reading saw them sharing the spoil with a final score-line of 2-2.

Brighton are unbeaten in the last four competitive matches at home against Reading with 2 wins and 2 draws. The first match on the series coming as a 2-1 win in the 2014 FA Cup.

There were 5 draws in the last 8 meetings between these two sides in all competition across all venues.

Brighton vs Reading: Prediction

This is another tight clash between two teams on similar mould of form. Brighton have won in 4 of their 5 home games in all competitions and lost once. The game they lost is the only match at home this season they have conceded a goal. While Reading after suffering three consecutive away defeats have now grabbed two wins in a row. As a result, both managers could be very cautious in their approach.

I expect few goals from this fixture and under 2.5 goals is a perfect option. Also, 7 of the last 8 home matches of Brighton against Reading have produced less than 3 goals.

Brighton vs Reading: Bet Tips

Under 2.5 goals at 4/5 (1.80)
Goals Odds/Even – Odd at 19/20 (1.95).
