Brentford vs Barnet Prediction & Match Preview

Brentford vs Barnet
English FA Cup
Date: Tuesday, 5 February 2019
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Griffin Park (Brentford).

Brentford and Barnet had the honour to drop curtain on first legs of FA Cup’s fourth round schedule last Monday at The Hive Stadium. They offered a true spectacle in the lone cup tie on the day providing a six-goal thriller which gave no winner at the end of 90 minutes.

It was a roller-coaster affair which saw the momentum swing back and forth on multiple occasions. Championship side Brentford entered the match as massive favourites since the draw gave them the only non-league side at this stage of the competition as counterparts.

Ollie Watkins pushed the Bees in charge five minutes before the break, but Barnet’s forward Shaquile Coulthirst turned it completely around early in the second half bagging a brace within three minutes.

Brentford then scored two more goals through Neal Maupay and Sergi Canos only for substitute Daniel Sparks to level it at 3-3 for the non-league outfit with an amazingly-taken free-kick 15 minutes from time.

Brentford vs Barnet: Head-to-head

These two likes used to battle it out together in League Two beforehand, but last Monday’s clash was their first meeting in eight years.

Brentford have a much better head to head record with seven wins, two draws and one defeat in ten games against Barnet.

Brentford won each of four home clashes with Barnet with a goal difference of 7-2 along the way.

Brentford vs Barnet: Prediction

Barnet have already claimed a huge Championship scalp in the previous round when they stunned Sheffield United 0-1 away at Bramall Lane. Ironically, they went on to lose 4-0 to the likes of Braintree Town in their respective division the following weekend.

The visitors are generally struggling badly in this term of National League. They sit 17th (out of 24 teams) in the league ladder and they lost three of past four league matches on the road. Brentford are unbeaten in last eight games in all competitions and we just have to see them as heavy favourites to confirm the favourites tag in the reverse fixture on the home patch.
