Werder Bremen will be desperate for win when they welcome stuttering Eagles to Weser-Stadion in Sunday’s Bundesliga clash.

Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Match Preview

Despite a brave and determined performance right up until the final whistle, Borussia Dortmund proved to be too much for Die Werderaner in the end, securing a 2-0 victory.

The Green & Whites’ camp still believe in miracles and securing Bundesliga survival but time is slowly running out for Florian Kohfeldt and his men to turn things around as loss against Dortmund made for fifth consecutive defeat for troubled Werder, their ninth in last ten games, which is enough for 17th place, five points off salvation.

With just five points collected at their home ground for entirety of the season so far, The River Islanders are the most generous hosts of the league, inflicting misery upon their own fans weekend after weekend, with their last (and only) win being way back in September since when they’ve suffered seven (six consecutive) defeats.

Two individual errors and overall bad day at the office by Eintracht’s front three helped Union Berlin hold on to a narrow 2-1 victory at the Commerzbank-Arena last Monday night.

Following a furious entry into the 2020 and four victories in five (two of which were against RB Leipzig), the Eagles’ flight has been cut short by Borussia Dortmund, who plucked the poor Frankfurters to bare bones by inflicting a 4-0 defeat, from which Eintracht still haven’t recovered as last week made for another Bundesliga blunder, enough to park them at 11th place, way off desired Europa League spots.

And they only have themselves to blame for that since as of last week, they’re officially the worst traveling team in the league, having collected just seven points from eleven trips, four of which were picked up fairly recently, during their uprising, before hard factory reset at Dortmund two weeks ago.

Werder’s first teamers are slowly recovering and getting back into side, with only their latest acquisition Kevin Vogt, Niclas Fullkrug and Kevin Mohwald remaining sidelined.

Adi Hutter will have some trouble picking up side for this clash against relegation contenders since Eintracht’s medical facilities are getting fuller by the day, with Mijat Gačinović, Bas Dost, Gelson Fernandes, Nils Stendera, Lucas Torró and Marco Russ all remaining out of Bremen reckoning.

Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Prediction

Well, lads, we’ve got a classic ahead of us, as Bundesliga’s worst home team meets league’s worst travelers. Nothing about this match makes sense but here we are. With Eintracht’s Europa League rematch in Austria still in the air, I’m going in under assumption that game is played on Friday and this fixture isn’t postponed by Bundesliga.

With that in mind, i’d like to back both of these sorry sides to score. This is based solely on their previous duels as Werder, for some reason, can score only against Borussia Dortmund (last outing excluded) and Eintracht.

Yes, the Green&Whites haven’t netted a single goal at Weser-Stadion since November, but the Number Theory is on their side for this one, they’ve got a favorable opponent, defensively almost as bad as them so…

Also, considering all from above come to be, Eintracht play in Friday, this game remains scheduled for Sunday, there’s just not enough time for the Eagles to fully recover and we just might get our snowy day in Hell as Werder finally triumph at home turf.
