Bournemouth vs Blackburn
English League Cup
Date: Tuesday, 25 September 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Vitality Stadium (Bournemouth).

Bournemouth and Blackburn come into their third round tie in completely opposite spirits after their respective weekend fixtures. The Cherries completely ruined a fine kick off to the new Premier League campaign with a demolishing 4-0 loss to struggling Burnley side at Turf Moor. The Riversiders, on the other side, picked up an important 2.3 victory over former Premier League outfit Stoke City away at Bet365 Stadium.

The Cherries revealed plenty of defensive holes on Saturday when they allowed Clarets to score four goals past them in the Matchday No 6. They still sit in the top half of the standings, though, and will come into this League Cup affair favourites regardless of the failure.

Blackburn enjoyed a fabulous 50-minute display at Bet265 Stadium on Saturday. They went 0-3 up against the Potters thanks to goals from the attacking trio Bradley Dack, Danny Graham and Harrison Reed. They are now unbeaten in last three league games in spite of having a rather tough schedule with games against Aston Villa, Derby County and Stoke City in the process.

Bournemouth vs Blackburn: Head-to-head

Teams have two wins apiece coming into their sixth head to head encounter.

They’ve last locked horns back in the 2014/15 Championship campaign.

Even though the Cherries earned the promotion to the top flight back then, Blackburn picked up four points from two H2H fixtures.

The two sides met each other in the League Cup back in 2004/05 season when Bournemouth advanced on penalties after the regular time ended in a 3-3 draw.

Bournemouth vs Blackburn: Prediction

We could be in for a similar high-scoring thriller between the two teams this time around as well. Eddie Howe’s men have been thriving in the final third in front of the home crowed this season. They notched 11 goals in four home matches across competitions so far (at least two goals in all of them).

Given the Cherries revealed defensive vulnerability in the weekend’s loss to Burnley, we’d not be surprised to see the Riversiders on the scorehseet on the occasion. The home win & BTTS thus looks to be an ideal betting option for this match. It can be backed at the odds of 3.25.

You certainly won’t make a mistake with the Over 2.5 goals FT at the odds of 1.72.
