Botafogo vs Ceara
Brazilian Serie A
Date: Wednesday, 6 June 2018
Kick-Off at 23:30 UK / 00:30 CET
Venue: Estadio Nilton Santos, Rio de Janeiro.
Botafogo picked up a highly-important victory away at Vasco da Gama at the weekend to put the poor streak of two losses and a draw in last three games behind them. Kieza and Igor Rabello bagged early first-half goals to open up the way for Fogao to clinch the victory and break back into the top 12 in the league ladder after 9 rounds of the competition.
Alberto Valentim’s men will have a fantastic opportunity to get more points on board when they take on the rock-bottomed Ceara on Wednesday evening at Estadio Nilton Santos. The visitors were unable to arrest the slump in their form on Sunday evening when they fell 0-1 at home to Cruzeiro. Ceara thus extended the horrendous start to the campaign making it three draws and six losses and they are still one of only two teams without a win in the competition so far.
We doubt Botafogo will miss out on this chance to make it back-to-back wins and get their Serie A campaign back on track on Wednesday when they host the weakest opposition in the league. The visitors will need a miracle to stay in the elite for longer than a year according to the horrendous start to the season and we just can’t see them ending the negative thread against the highly-motivated Botafogo side here.
The home win is a banker at 1.61, while you can alternatively back the hosts to keep a clean sheet at the odds of 2.10 knowing Ceara failed to find the back of the net in last four games in all competitions.
