Bosnia & Herzegovina v Montenegro
Date: Monday, 28th May 2018
Kick-Off at 17:00 UK
Venue: Stadion Bilino Polje (Zenica)
Bosnia & Herzegovina have seen a rather unpredictable spell of form since the World Cup Qualifiers and we’ve seen just one win in four outings as Robert Prosinecki’s men beat Bulgaria, earned goalless draws against United States and Senegal, and suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Mexico along the way.
Montenegro have seen a similarly underwhelming World Cup campaign and they’ve only held Cyprus and Turkey to draws since then, failing to return to the winning ways and seeing a four-game winless streak now behind them. Bosnia have been a very tough side to beat in front of their fans and this will surely be worrying for the visitors – seeing three wins and a draw in last five outings with clean sheets on all of those occasions and just a thriller 3-4 loss to Belgium.
Dragons have been regularly netting numbers of goals and Prosinecki will hope for a more convincing set up in the attacking third, as Montenegro do have a history of conceding numbers of goals away from home. We do expect an exciting game as both sides now look to retain consistency ahead of the UEFA Nations League outings.
Bosnia & Herzegovina Team News
Asmir Begovic will not be available for the friendlies due to personal reasons.
Another notable absentee from the Bosnian squad is the versatile Arsenal wingback Sead Kolasinac.
Meanwhile, the experienced midfielder Haris Medunjanin has retired after the goal-less draw against Senegal in March this year.
However, all attention is towards the three players Emir Spahic, Zvjezdan Misimovic and Vedad Ibisevic – the experienced trio set who are set to retire at the end of this international friendly window.
Bosnia-Herzegovina Predicted Line-up (4-3-2-1)
Sehic – Vranjes, Bicakcic, Sunjic, Zukanovic – Pjanic, Saric, Besic – Visca, Kodro – Dzeko.
Montenegro Team News
Ljubisa Tumbakovic decided to call up on a relatively young squad and there is little doubt that the 65-year head coach is using this as an opportunity to scout players for the UEFA Nations League.
Both Stevan Jovetic and Stefan Savic have been withdrawn from the squad along with the midfielder Nikola Vukcevic.
At least 7 players could make their debut for the national team on Monday. Besides, only 3 players from the 22-men squad had played more than 20 games in the national colors.
Montenegro Predicted Line-up (4-4-2)
Petkovic – Stojkovic, Tomasevic, Simic, Murasic – Kajevic, Hocko, Jovovic, Kojasevic – Djordjevic, Beqiraj.
Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Montenegro: Head-to-head
- Interestingly, this will be the first head-to-head clash for the neighbours since Montenegro separated from Serbia.
- Both come on the backs of a troubled World Cup campaign but Bosnia do seem to have more depth in quality.
- Montenegro have been scoring and conceding many goals recently.

With that in mind, we’ll also back a YES on Both teams to score at 2.10, which does seem great value seeing Bosnia’s records in front of the home crowd as well as Montenegro’s more recent outings – where we regularly see goals on both ends of the pitch.
