Bordeaux vs Strasbourg
France Ligue 1
Date: Sunday 12th August 2018
Kick off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET
Venue: Matmut Atlantique (Bordeaux).
Bordeaux will kick off their season at home to Strasbourg on Sunday early evening.
Bordeaux have spent £10m this summer and created big news by getting the Jimmy Briand from arch rivals Guingamp.
They also recruited winger Samuel Kalu from Gent for £7m. But they have lost the influential Malcom who was sold to Barcelona for £36m, and the Brazilian will be a big loss to the team.
Fans remain unhappy as the club has for the time being kept this money and not reinvested in players.
Strasbourg blew hot and cold last season and in the end were lucky to survive in Ligue 1, even though they were one of the rare teams that beat PSG last season.
They have bought goalkeeper Matz Sels from Newcastle for £3.6m and will be hoping that Ludovic Ajorque can step up to Ligue 1 pace from Clermont Foot and score goals for the club in this £1.8m transfer fee.

Quality has been lost from both teams especially Bordeaux who will feel the loss of Malcom. It is unsure then how this game can play out.
Strasbourg has a decent record here, but we could see a game where both teams are happy to walk away with a point.
