Bordeaux vs Rennes Prediction & Match Preview

Bordeaux vs Rennes
French Ligue 1
Date: Sunday, 17th March 2019
Kick off at 16:00 UK/ 17:00 CET
Venue: Matmut Atlantique (Bordeaux).

Bordeaux and Rennes will come together on Sunday and both have had their poor weeks.

For the home side they have slipped to 13th place and have gone the last 4 games without a win as they have seen their European hopes dashed in the past month.

They are not conceding many goals with 7 in the last 5 games but they just cannot register a confidence boosting win which has hit their morale bad. Still at home they have lost just 1 game from their past five but the problem is when they are not losing they are drawing.

Rennes Europa League bubble was burst and the team came crashing down to reality in midweek when Arsenal knocked them out. It was a harsh night for the team who had won the first leg 3-1 but lost in London by 3-0.

Rennes were really counting on continuing in the Europa League and the players are devastated and tired. But with a good run they have a chance to perhaps qualify again for the Europa League and form has been average to good.

Bordeaux vs Rennes: Head to Head

Earlier in the season Rennes won the reverse fixture 2-0.

Last season in this fixture Rennes also won and the score was also 2-0.

Bordeaux have not beaten Rennes since 2016 and that goes back to 6 games.

The last 5 meetings have ended in under 2.5 goals.

Bordeaux vs Rennes: Prediction

We are going to back the draw here. Bordeaux are draw specialists and Rennes won’t be at the races for this game, but they remain the better team of the two and have to try and win to keep the pressure on the top six.

We also expect the game to get off to a slow start and that is why our main bet will be to see more goals in the 2nd half of the game where it should open up through Rennes especially being more tired. We do not expect to see an exciting game but both teams may, in the end, be happy with a draw.
