Bologna vs Roma
Italian Serie A.
Date: Sunday 23 September 2018
Kick-Off: 14:00 UK/ 15:00 CET
Venue: Stadio Renato Dall’Ara (Bologna).
Bologna will be hoping to end their awful run and at least finally score a goal as they take on Roma.
The Rossoblu are sitting in the drop zone after four games and Pippo Inzaghi’s project has not taken off. The goal was to try to finish in the top half of the table, but they come into this game having lost to Genoa and have yet to score a goal. The only other side who fall into this category is Frosinone, who are also having an awful time in the top flight.
Meanwhile, Roma come into this game having being crushed 3-0 by Real Madrid, which will have severely dented their confidence.
Although they were the big underdogs in that Champions League contest, the Giallorossi still were hoping for a better result after their impressive run last term. They also wanted to prove that their run to the semi-finals was not a mere fluke, but kicking things off with a 3-0 loss to the reigning champs is not the best way to commence matters.
In addition, Eusebio Di Francesco’s men are not faring as well in Serie A as they would like. One win from their first four fixtures sees them outside the top four, and they are winless in their last three. That includes a frustrating 2-2 draw with Chievo, and they had to come from behind to secure a 3-3 stalemate against Atalanta.
Defensively, Roma have been struggling since losing Alisson and Radja Nainggolan in the center of the park, but they are taking on a team who they have beaten three times in their last four encounters and who can’t seem to find the back of the net.
Bologna vs Roma: Head-to-head statistics
- Bologna have not beaten Roma at their home ground since 2004
- Since then, their record has been (D4 L5)
- Overall, the Rossoblu have won only one of their last 19 league meetings against the Lupi (D8 L10)
Bologna vs Roma: Prediction
Roma have not fared well lately and are winless in their last four games across all competitions. That being said, the Giallorossi are facing a team who haven’t beaten them at their home ground since 2004, haven’t won a game all season and haven’t even scored a goal. They should be able to rebound from a frustrating week and get back to winning ways here.
