Bologna vs Roma: Prediction
With two wins and a draw to their name, Bologna are currently second in the league, behind 100-percent Inter and levelled on points with Juventus, They started off with a stalemate against Hellas Verona (1-1), then went on to beat SPAL deep into stoppages (1-0) and, finally, pulled off an astonishing comeback vs Brescia (4-3).
Even though Dessena’s red card had a massive impact on the result, it was later revealed that manager Sinisa Mihajlovic inspired second-half fightback with a phone call at half-time. On their way home, Bologna players stopped the bus outside of Mihajlovic’s hospital room to chant his name. The ‘Veltri’ will be hoping to extend their unbeaten streak on Sunday against Roma. The hosts will be without Danilo, who should return next week.
After two draws vs Genoa (3-3) and Lazio (1-1), the Giallorossi recorded their win under new manager Paulo Fonseca as they defeated Sassuolo (4-2) after storming-first half performance that saw Roma score four in just 20 minutes. They moved on to beat Istanbul Basaksehir (4-0) in Europa League on Thursday.
With eight goals scored in last two games, it’s safe to say they have ‘cliked’ in the final third, but defence is still a big issue, despite the clean sheet vs Turkish side. Zappacosta, Under and Perotti are out injured.
High-flying Bologna are scoring an average of two goals per game and with Riccardo Orsolini, Roberto Sansone, Rodrigo Palacio and Mattia Destro projected to start, they surely have enough firepower to score goals vs leaky Giallorossi defence.
Roma are averaging three goals scored per game across competitions, and we can always rely on in-form hitman Edin Dzeko and co. to deliver. Lorenzo Pellegrini provided three assists last Sunday, Henrikh Mkhitaryan enjoyed a great debut, and their young studs Niccolo Zaniolo and Justin Kluivert have upped their games.
All things considered, we should see plenty of goals in this one, on both ends.
