Boca Juniors enter the final day of the group stage from third place being a single point short of Junior in second. The Argentine giants are thus dependant on Palmeiras who will come into the last round’s tie with Junior without an imperative having already booked the top spot in the Group 8.
Xeneizes need a victory over the rock-bottomed Alianza Lima and Junior not to beat Palmeiras on the road in order to jump above the Colombian outfit and clinch a place in the last 16 round of the competition.
Schelotto’s men will be heavy favourites to dispatch the non-motivated Peruvians here as the visitors have n0othing to play for here after winning only a single point in five group stage affairs.
The match played in early-March saw a goalless draw at Estadio Nacional de Lima.
It was the first ever head to head encounter between Alianza Lima and Boca Juniors.
Boca dominated the pitch entirely back then, but just couldn’t break the deadlock as Alianza Lima had only a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes of play in front of the home crowd.
Boca will no doubts be the dominant figure in this match from the very first whistle. They are much stronger side and the match has a much greater significance which is why we would not be surprised to see the Peruvians surviving a catastrophe at Estadio Alberto Jose Armando.
The hosts did score only three goals in five Copa Libertadores games so far, but they have been super-efficient in the most recent Superliga outings netting five goals in last two draws with Gimnasia La Plata and Huracan.
Alianza Lima lost six on the bounce away from home in all competitions without scoring at all along the way and we just can’t see them threatening Boca’s defense here. We’ll back the hosts to keep a clean sheet as the main bet at 1.44, while Boca are also worth backing to win by three or more goals at 1.70.
