Birmingham vs Nottingham Forest
Date: Saturday, 2 February 2019
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK / 16:00 CET
Venue: St. Andrew’s Stadium (Birmingham).
Birmingham ended a three-loss streak across competitions by holding Swansea City to a 3-3 draw in a crazy six-goal thriller on Tuesday evening at Liberty Stadium.
The Blues showed character to stay undefeated in spite of the fact they had a man sent off right at the death of the first half. The scoreline was 1-1 at the half time and it seemed Birmingham will hardly claw their way back into the contest when they conceded a 65th-minute goal from Oli McBurnie.
However, they managed to find two quick goals within four minutes to completely turn things around with ten players on the pitch. Sadly to their fans, the Blues could not hold on to a 2-3 lead as McBurnie saved a point for Swansea City netting the 94th-minute equalizer.
Gary Monk’s men will continue their well-congested schedule on Saturday afternoon when they play host to promotional hopefuls Nottingham Forest at St. Andrew’s. It is tie if a massive importance for both teams who are currently separated by only two points in the middle of the Championship ladder.
Birmingham vs Nottingham Forest: Head-to-head
Nottingham lead the H2H tie by 11 wins ahead of 77th meeting with the Blues.
Teams shared spoils in a 2-2 draw when they played each other in late-August last year at The City Ground.
It is interesting to note that The Reds have a positive record (14 wins and 12 defeats) in matches at St. Andrew’s.
Birmingham vs Nottingham Forest: Prediction
Nottingham claimed a three-pointer from a must-win affair against Wigan Athletic last weekend. Joe Lolley, Matty Cash and Adlene Guedioura bagged goals in a 3-1 victory which ended a three-loss thread for the Reds. They returned into the contest for the top-six finish as they are still within the striking range of sixth-placed Derby County who are only four points away.
The team led by Martin O’Neill should be in position to produce another high-scoring display against a side which shipped as many as 10 goals in last four matches in all competitions. Since the visitors were all but meticulous at the back in recent fixtures, we clearly expect the hosts to find the back of the net on the occasion.
