Bermuda vs Nicaragua Prediction & Match Preview

Bermuda vs Nicaragua
Date: Monday, 24 June 2019
Kick off at 23:30 UK/ 00:30 CET
Venue: Red Bull Arena (Harrison).

Both Bermuda and Nicaragua saw their hopes of progressing past the group stages put to bed after they were handed back to back defeats in their first two group stage matches. More than anything, the teams will be fighting for honor rather than the points as they get ready to bow out of the tournament following their final group fixture against each other on Monday, at the Red Bull Arena.

Kyle Lightbourne’s side enjoyed very little possession of the ball in their last match against Costa Rica which ended 2-1 in favor of the latter. Despite pulling one back, close to the hour mark, his squad did not look convincing enough to stage a comeback in the last thirty minutes. They will certainly have been disappointed with the loss, especially with their opening match ending in a similar scoreline.

Their counterparts are yet to score a single goal in the tournament. Their previous match against Haiti saw them lose out by two goals, which is half the number of goals that their opening opponents Costa Rica slotted past them.

The teams who will be progressing from their group are Costa Rica and Haiti who have six points apiece in the table.

Bermuda vs Nicaragua Prediction

Kyle Lightbourne’s side, who are first-timers in the cup, are likely to have their first taste of victory when they take on Nicaragua in the third round of group fixtures.

His squad have managed to find the back of the net in all of their group matches, despite going on to lose the match at the end of the ninety. Considering that they lost those games by the narrowest of margins, it is fairly obvious that they are the better of the two sides in the clash on Monday.

Henry Duarte’s side have been dismal, to say the least, right from their opening match. Despite enjoying the majority of possession in their recent fixture with Haiti, his squad just lacked the clinical finishing in the attacking third and were too careless when it came to defending in their own half. They did fare a lot better in comparison with the performance that they put on against Costa Rica in their opening match that ended 4-0.

We can certainly expect Bermuda to come out on top and secure the three points which will only be a consolation to their short-lived maiden venture in the Cup while their counterparts will just have to hope for a better campaign next time.
