Belgium vs Iceland UEFA Nations League Prediction by LeagueLane

Belgium vs Iceland
UEFA Nations League
Date: Thursday, 15 November 2018
Kick-Off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Stade Roi Baudouin (Bruxelles).

Belgium will be looking to regain a three-point cushion at the top of the Group 2 standings on Thursday when they host the rock-bottomed Iceland side at Stade Roi Baudouin. A win here would further boost up Belgian confidence coming into the last game of the group stage against Switzerland on Sunday.

The team led by Roberto Martinez were more than dominant when they played Iceland for the first time in the group. The Red Devils eased past the Scandinavians 0-3 away in Reykjavik thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku and a penalty-kick goal from captain Eden Hazard.

Manchester United’s striker will likely skip the Iceland tie this time around given he also misses recent matches for his club in both Premiership and Champions League through injury. However, Martinez still has a host of predators in the final third and we can hardly predict anything else but a straightforward affair for the locals at Stade Roi Baudouin here.

Belgium vs Iceland: Head-to-head

Belgium have a brutal head to head record against Iceland.

The Red Devils won 10 from 10 in H2H matches.

They’ve been especially dominant in last two meetings (friendly in 2014 saw a 3-1 win for Belgium).

Belgium vs Iceland: Prediction

Iceland enjoyed a breakthrough on the world scene in recent years, but they are on a poor spell of form ever since securing the tops pot in their respective World Cup Qualification group (above Croatia, Ukraine and Turkey).

The Scandinavians are winless in last 11 matches, a streak which includes a poor World Cup campaign. They lost five and drew one of last six games, but the draw came against world champions France in a friendly played last month.

However, Erik Hamren’s men failed to back it up as they easily lost to Switzerland 1-2 in the following UEFA Nations League clash. Iceland shipped two or more goals in all of last six fixtures and we can’t see them holding the extremely talented Belgian attacking line down here.
