Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig: Match Preview
The Bavarians successfully overcame brave Hoffenheim, scraping past them in 4-3 victory on Wednesday night, taking their place in DFB Pokal quarter-finals.
The King is back as revitalized FCB are off the chain, mauling everyone left and right; on Saturday they’ve managed their sixth consecutive league victory and after Leipzig’s slip up at Monchengladbach, the Bavarians are back on the top of Bundesliga.
Having worked out some quirks, Hans-Dieter Flick’s men are again that unyielding force at Allianz Arena everyone expect them to be, in the past three home games, all three victories, 13 goals scored and 5-0 demolition of Schalke in what was supposed to be derby of the round against another CL contestant.
RB Leipzig got knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by Eintracht in Frankfurt after three unnecessarily conceded goals and way too many squandered chances.
It was third misstep in a row for Julian Nagelsmann and his pupils following a defeat and a hard earned draw in the league, coming after an invincible series of matches which ultimately allowed Bayern to overtake them and drop them down to 2nd, with one point dividing the two.
Cup loss at Frankfurt was their second defeat this year by the same side, the one which ended their nice unbeaten run away from home in the league; despite that, Die Roten Bullen remain the most prolific team in Bundesliga on their travels though they haven’t won on the last two outings (three, if we include DFB Pokal).
Ivan Perisic joined the usual suspects in Bayern’s emergency room and together with Javier Martinez and Niklas Süle will watch this one from the stands. Kingsley Coman is close to returning though unlikely to be deemed fit enough to participate in Sunday’s clash.
Kevin Kampl, Willi Orban and Ibrahima Konaté won’t be available to Nagelsmann for trip to Munich though Luan Cândido could still get on that bus, should the doctors decide he’s well enough.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig: Prediction
My personal grievances with Bayern aside, one can’t argue that they’re back on their factory settings, Herr Flick has them playing some of the best football in ages and they’re way too experienced side not to exploit the bad shape Leipzig’s currently in, strike when they’re at their weakest and put some advantage between the two in the title race.
My other pick is Thomas Müller. Seasoned striker is playing in form of his life, scoring for fun in recent times, getting on scoresheet four times in Bayern’s last six games, three in last four matches at Allianz Arena and being the big game player, there’s no doubt in my mind he’ll put at least one past Peter Gulacsi on Sunday.
