Barcelona vs Sevilla
Spain – Copa Del Rey
Date: Saturday, 21st April 2018
Kick-off at 20:30 UK/ 21:30 CET
Venue: Wanda Metropolitano (Madrid).
Familiar foes Barcelona and Sevilla go head-to-head in the final of the 2018 edition of the Spanish Copa Del Rey. The match is scheduled to kick off at 20:30 UK in Atletico Madrid’s home ground, the Wanda Metropolitano.
The teams are coming with different outlooks here and Barcelona certainly seem to be at top of their game. Since the disappointing exit to Roma in the Champions League quarter finals, they earned a morale boosting win against Valencia and then a draw in the midweek trip to Celta Vigo with a heavily rotated squad. Ernesto Valverde’s men are 5 points away from being crowned as La Liga champions with as many games in hand and they will be eyeing a silverware on Saturday.
Sevilla are in doldrums at the moment as things went horribly wrong since the massive win against Manchester United at the Old Trafford. They were held to a goal-less draw by relegation threatened Deportivo this midweek stretching their win-less run to 7 games. They have plenty of problems to address as goals have dried up along with some sloppy defending to go with. This will be a massive test for them to go against a Barcelona side unbeaten in head-to-head games since 2015.
Barcelona vs Sevilla: Head-to-head
Last Sevilla win over Barcelona happened at the end of 2014/15 La Liga season at the Sanchez Pizjuan by a 2-1 margin. The Blaugrana won 6 of the 7 games since one before a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou at the end of March.
They last met in the final of Copa Del Rey in 2016. The match saw no goals in the regular 90 minutes before Jordi Alba and Neymar strike in the added extra time.
Barcelona vs Sevilla: Predictions
Barca are coming into this match better prepared with the majority of their key players getting a rest in the midweek. The form is also strong and hardly any team in Spain managed to trouble them this season.
Sevilla are at the rock bottom of confidence with positive results are even against teams in the bottom half of the league table. The lack of depth in the playing squad coupled with the intense Champions League fixture had weighed them down. So, I don’t see them troubling the soon to be crowned La Liga champions on Saturday.
A Barcelona win offered at 1.46 odds by 1xBet is a banker, but my eyes are set on bigger price.
